She leads by example and is an amazing mentor.  Renee leads with kindness and compassion, supporting all of us to be better nurses and leaders for our patients and our teams.
During the pandemic, I was a clinical leader in the ICU, and my current manager knew my aspirations. Renee and I discussed my goals and encouraged me to seize an opportunity if it was right for my family and me. At that moment, I knew I could take the leap of faith with her as my director. She is understanding, encouraging, and straightforward. She is always willing to listen and help me work through something I am struggling with. She has supported me through my transition to interim manager and continued that support on my journey as a new manager. I have made mistakes, and she was always there with advice and suggestions. I appreciate her so very much and her understanding of what it takes to be a successful leader, confidant, team member, and friend. She is all these things and more!

Renee is very supportive and responsive to her teams, as evidenced by the recent change in the IV team shift hours/service hours (from 8 to 12 hours).

This has been a request from the team for many years, and Renee took all the information needed and advocated for us with Leadership, who were also supportive of the change. This is a big win not only for our department but for the nursing team and patients as well.  The longer hours of service allowed more resources for our nursing teams, which in turn allowed us to meet our patients’ needs in a timely manner. This has increased patient, team member, and physician satisfaction.

We truly appreciate Renee for speaking on the team's behalf and taking this to leadership to support this enhancement for our team! Thank you, Renee, for all you do and continue to do.

Renee always gives her managers the leeway to decide what they believe is best. This professional autonomy is so important to me. Whenever we are challenged with a new goal, she supports us in whatever way possible to make sure we are successful. She ensures we know directives, share a vision, and create a plan together. I appreciate her leadership immensely.

Renee is always available and will answer texts/calls at any time to resolve patient or team member issues without hesitation at any time of the day/night. She ensures follow-up to promote close-the-loop communication. I am so grateful for her willingness to always be available for support.

She supports and encourages life-work balance for the leadership team. She is willing to cover for meetings and/or unit coverage to ensure we, as managers, have the off time we need.

She prioritizes open communication with the bedside team. When she rounds on the units, she ensures personability and positivity to the team to confirm they feel supported by leadership.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with Renee as our nurse leader.  For the past three years, she has been our DON for critical care and hemodialysis. She has gone above and beyond to learn critical care and HD environment. She has been supportive and always present in the most challenging situations. She is a cheerleader when team or individual achievements are reached. She leads by example and is an amazing mentor.  Renee leads with kindness and compassion, supporting all of us to be better nurses and leaders for our patients and our teams.

Renee also serves our community through church, and safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce. I could go on and on about the attributes that make her a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
