When she didn't get an answer right away, she called 911 and asked for the very least welfare check, but they might need an ambulance.
Reina works on the PACT team which calls patients prior to their procedures to prepare the chart and the patient for their upcoming visit. Recently, she called a patient to just give them an arrival time for the next day. She didn't really need to call them as they had been here for the same procedure already. The first attempt she got no answer, she decided to try again and got the patient on the phone. The patient seemed a little confused and couldn't quite explain why she was having trouble. Reina looked at notes from her visit just a few hours earlier and there was no mention of confusion. Then the call was disconnected which had Reina worried. She paged the PA radiology nurse that had worked with the patient and he stated she was not confused when he worked with her. Reina then attempted to call the patient's two sons to see if they had any contact with the patient. When she didn't get an answer right away, she called 911 and asked for the very least welfare check, but they might need an ambulance. It turns out the patient noticed she was having a hard time thinking and finding words 4 hours prior to Reina's call, but she didn't contact anyone. The patient was admitted to the hospital with a TIA. Reina went above and beyond her duty to follow through and make sure this patient was safe. She does this frequently as a nurse both in the PACT office and when she cares for patients in PCC.
