Wesley, a former Navy Corpsman, is the perfect example of what a DAISY Nurse is. I’ve watched him work for years now. He is so attentive to every Veteran’s needs. From his anticipation of their needs before they even ask. His bedside manner is unmatched. The way he talks to Veterans on a very friendly and personal level. His patient care is always above and beyond the call of duty.

Over the years I’ve seen him bring in food and drinks the Veteran needs or wants. Since COVID-19 hit us so hard in 2020, Wesley’s ward was on lockdown. Wesley started cutting hair for Veterans in both units of the Community Living Center. He continues to cut all the Veteran’s hair to this day. Not having a VA barber makes this even more incredible to keep the Veterans feeling and looking good. Watching Wesley do his medication pass is also fun to watch as a fellow Nurse. He is very proficient. I’ve seen him many times, stop and give personal care without skipping a beat. His professionalism and care shine to the point of recognition. His nursing is an example of what all of us Nurses should strive for.
