Madison was my 3rd or 4th nurse to support me through my recovery period at HUMC after I gave birth to my daughter. I was in a really vulnerable situation, where on the day I was supposed to get discharged, that same day I developed a spiking fever, fast heartbeat, and pulse rate, which really scared me as a patient. I honestly didn’t know what was happening and why it was happening, but within the space of one hour, the situation changed from me going home to being taken for a CAT scan, knowing that I was not going home that day with my newborn. Without Madison, getting through those couple of days would have been impossible. Madison consistently kept me informed in terms of what was happening with the doctors. She would check in on me to make sure I was doing OK. She was encouraging and helped me realize that I would be OK, and I would get through this. She had to put a drip on me for my antibiotics, and she knew how scared I was, yet she was so calm, and I didn’t feel a thing whatsoever! I think the care that Madison provided to me was above and beyond and what I needed to get through that time. Without Madison’s encouragement and her caring nature, I worry that I would have spiraled into more difficulty, and I am so so thankful to Madison!
