She supported us emotionally and was kind and patient but also very truthful.
Bethany was the first nurse in CVICU who took care of our dad after he suffered from a heart attack, and we were told he had a 20% chance of survival. She oriented us to everything that was happening with our dad; explained every machine, monitor, and medication he was on and what it did for him and why he was on it. She was very kind to us and encouraged us to stay with him as much as possible and talk to him. She was very honest about how critical he was, but at the same time, told us to keep the faith and to spend time talking to him.
She acted very quickly on any little change that took place in his condition, his vitals, his lab work, and explained why changes or adjustments were being made. She supported us emotionally and was kind and patient but also very truthful. She took care of him for two nights and provided extraordinary care to him and to our family.
Our dad recovered, and Bethany took care of him the night before he was transferred to PCU. She again provided extraordinary care to him and even took time to shave him. We knew how amazing she was and told our dad about her. After the last night in CVICU, our dad said the same thing.
She truly deserves this award!
