Sara fosters collaboration within our CNS/NC group to improve outcomes and strive for zero patient harm, moving ASLMC and Aurora Health Care forward within the ever-changing healthcare environment. She stays on top of clinical evidence-based practice changes and nursing research, disseminating these changes house-wide through her involvement in many teams, workgroups, and professional governance councils.

On a monthly basis, Sara creates a large Excel file to share nurse-sensitive indicator data with clinical nurses and nursing leadership, creating awareness about the impact of our nursing care. In partnership with others, she helped initiate and sustain the Journey to Excellence programs, which have positively impacted all nursing quality metrics and assisted in the creation of shared ownership. In collaboration with system partners, she has been pivotal in initiating the Driving Improvement work in various units within our organization.

In 2023, Sara created, managed, coordinated, and delivered the 2023 Application to Practice series for both inpatient and outpatient CNSs/NCs. Topics covered included data sources/PDSA cycles, EBP and library resources, communication tips/tricks, data interpretation and evaluation, finance and return on investment, project management, and dissemination of our work. She inspires her team to become EBP mentors, using the Workday EBP mentorship training modules as a guide with designated lunch and learns occurring in early 2024 to develop and sharpen our own EBP skills.
