There are many reasons for this nomination and the clinical care she provided our family member. My brother suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and she always talked to him, reassured him, spoke kindly, and made sure he was comfortable. She got him to give her a thumbs-up, made a connection with him that calmed him, and still kept the family involved, updated and even filled my mom's cooler with ice for her insulin to remain cool while she was resting. Why is this nurse so important? Because not only does she have clinical skills, she has excellent relationship skills and as a nurse myself, this is just as important as the clinical skills. I felt safe when she was here and that he was going to get the best care. (Please note the others were good too, just that she was different). She answered questions and connected us to others as needed. We don't know his outcome at the time of this nomination but we are forever grateful for her holistic care and she will always be remembered. Thank you Angie and the entire STICU team, you are exceptional during a very scary and uncertain health crisis.
