Kelley really pushed for at least a small amount of fluids to help him recover his strength and bearings. Surely enough, his blood pressure came back up, and his heart rate was more stable.
Kelley provided not just attentive and thoughtful care but also demonstrated a proactive understanding of how to help keep the patient, my dad, from floundering with his vitals. His condition was a difficult combination of cardiac issues and renal failure, and she was completely on top of things. When nephrology took four liters from dialysis, his blood pressure dropped, and his mental faculties were struggling; Kelley really pushed for at least a small amount of fluids to help him recover his strength and bearings. Surely enough, his blood pressure came back up, and his heart rate was more stable. Just 500 ml of fluids kept him from having to have further cardiological drug interventions, which he was poorly tolerating. She was further warm and forthcoming with my mother, me, and the rest of the family who visited. She especially was good about keeping my mom up to date, since she's also a nurse and had a hard time not "helicoptering" over every little thing. Her intuitive knowledge of what to do was impressive, especially at her young age.
