I was lucky enough to have Sierra as my nurse during my stay at Banner Churchill Community Hospital. I was admitted as a patient in the Labor & Delivery Department for a scheduled induction. During my stay, I had a series of complications that resulted in me remaining as a patient in Labor & Delivery for a week. Luckily, Sierra was one of my nurses during some of the scariest and most vulnerable moments of my life. In addition to assisting in delivering my baby girl via an unexpected Cesarean section, she provided insight and reassurance about the preeclampsia my body contracted during and after my labor. She provided the best hands-on care to not only me but also my daughter, husband, and family. She was incredible at her job but was also a master at all of the "little things" that can easily go unnoticed by others. Sierra taught me how to breast feed amidst being very sick and encouraged me when I felt that it was too difficult to continue. She consoled me when I continuously received negative results or bad news. She talked me through all of my options, including--thankfully--my ultimate decision to get a Cesarean section after two days of labor with preeclampsia. Sierra was the ultimate silver lining during a dark and tumultuous week for me and my family. My husband and I feel extremely lucky that Sierra was our nurse. I know that I would not have handled all of the curve balls thrown our way without her support and care. Sierra is the most deserving recipient of The DAISY Award!
