The reason why I would like to nominate Maria L. ANM Northwest, for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award is her love for her staff. She always begins the huddle with the message, "Always Be Kind." It is such a powerful message to care for oneself, coworkers, and patients. Maria proves herself every day. She always has her door open to listen to our concerns and complaints and shows compassion to the staff even when she has to say no to our requests. A leader is one who makes not only a unit great place to work but strives for the best of each person day after day. Thank you, Maria, for pushing us out of our comfort zone and making Northwest the best unit in the hospital. A leader who is kind and takes the responsibility to heart. I appreciate the dedication to her job but, more importantly, her listening skills and communication skills, advocating each shift of every day the best for her staff. A beautiful DAISY with many petals, her staff, to allow her to stand out in the crowd.
