We seek to recognize Stephanie because she pushes us to be better, she is a steadfast advocate for nurse and patient experience, and she is a tireless advocate for the success of ASCs and Oracle technology.
When you want to achieve something audacious, complex, and/or novel, you need a pioneer. You need someone who is brave, unwavering, charismatic, and cares about the group behind them … someone to chop down the vines in the way, look ahead through the thick jungle with no clear path, and confidently tell the group behind her, “OK team. We’re going to go in there together, and we’re going to come out the other side together. Here’s what I need from each of you so we’re all successful… questions? Let’s go!”

Stephanie is our pioneer, and not just for us here within Oracle. Ambulatory Surgery Centers aim to deliver superior patient and financial results compared to hospitals, yet that’s often on the backs of nurses and other staff. Stephanie sees that problem – that jungle – and understands the complexities. What would it take to successfully tame the jungle with technology that helps ASCs achieve more with less effort, while improving patient experience and nurse experience alike? As it turns out, it takes a concerted effort from multiple experts, led by a courageous leader.

Because of her leadership, we have an ASC workgroup that spans products and roles at Oracle. Sales, marketing, consulting, product management, and more now have a job to do for the ASC. Stephanie has deputized us on this mission, and she has taught us not just what it will take to be successful but also how to care about the experience of an ASC nurse in their day-to-day. But is everything merely delegated to others? No. Stephanie leans in. Stephanie pushes us across the finish line. Stephanie takes ultimate responsibility, and in the past 12 months, she has achieved many specific milestones and customer achievements for Oracle as impactful evidence of her contributions.

In the past year alone:

Oracle signed 6 new ASC customers. Stephanie directly participated in the demos, built the relationships, reviewed the budgetary proposals, found efficiencies, and helped get ink on paper.

Oracle now has multiple customer achievement stories, one of which was published in an industry journal. Stephanie met with those ASC owners to make sure they were successful and understood that Oracle was instrumental in that. Stephanie pushed to get a formal customer achievement created, even at a time when the process to do so wasn’t solidified. No matter for a pioneer.

Oracle product management now has “ASC” as a significant market that we consider when designing customer-centric software across multiple product teams – perioperative, revenue cycle, Gen2 EHR use-cases, OCDA and more. Stephanie meets with us often directly to help us understand the context of the user and validates with us whether/how products should be contemplated differently to also support an ASC nurse well.

Oracle now has ASC-specific, standard clinical content and workflows to streamline customer effort for the first time in our Cerner/OHAI history, and customers see that Oracle is serious about making a difference for ambulatory surgery.

We seek to recognize Stephanie because she pushes us to be better, she is a steadfast advocate for nurse and patient experience, and she is a tireless advocate for the success of ASCs and Oracle technology. I have been with Cerner/OHAI for 18 years, seen her predecessors try many different approaches to the ASC market in the past, and can say with confidence that it is uniquely because of Stephanie’s experience and drive that so many of us are thus compelled and successful for this market, their nurses, and their patients.
