Thank you to my nurse; your persistence allowed the blood clot in J’s left arm to be found.
I am so grateful for this nurse; she was my husband J’s nurse while he was at Waterman. She was the only person who took his health concerns seriously. She was diligent regarding the pain in his left arm and the ice-cold left hand that had no feeling in it. J came to the ER with severe pain in his left arm. He thought he was having a heart attack. His left hand was cold like he put it in the freezer, and he had no feelings in his fingers. The ER gave him morphine and wanted to send him home. J said he was not comfortable going home. The ER sent him a room. This Nurse was the only one who took J’s health concerns to heart. Every time she came into the room, she checked both hands to see if there were any improvements to his left hand.

When the Doctors repeatedly wanted to send J home, she would remind them of his left arm and hand. Reluctantly, the doctor ordered a scan of his left arm. The doctor looked at me and said he did not believe they would find anything. They AGAIN tried to send J home; this nurse reminded the doctor that he was scheduled for the scan on his left arm. (The week before this admission, J had work done on his pacemaker) I was told twice that there was no way the surgery the week before could cause a blood clot. Thank you to my nurse; your persistence allowed the blood clot in J’s left arm to be found.

She saved J’s life!
