Rachel was able to take my momma's mind off of the “what ifs” and focus on the “here and now.”
From intake to transfer to the unit, Rachel cared for my mother like she was her own. She was able to place an IV in one stick without help when my mom usually requires an ultrasound or tons of pokes! Thank God for her skills and knowledge. Rachel was able to take my momma's mind off of the “what ifs” and focus on the “here and now.” She advocated strongly to get my mom the admission she needed and spearheaded a social services consult for placement after discharge.
Rachel provided an elderly woman with compassion as if she were family. Again, she recognized from intake that my mom would need rehab to regain her strength post-discharge, and she arranged that efficiently. She communicated with both myself and my mother, setting both of our minds at ease. She explained every detail of her process. She was inclusive, and that was so important. Having Rachel arrange for a rehab consult while still in the ER prior to admission, in addition to having an in-house physical therapist come to the bedside to see her make their recommendations, helped improve my mother’s outcome, and I am forever grateful.
