Holding my baby against my chest, I was not only thankful for a successful delivery but profoundly grateful for having Nasro by my side.
I’m compelled to share a profound experience of compassionate care provided by my nurse, Nasro; she was instrumental during the birth of my second child. The memory of my first delivery, which was a whirlwind of fear and confusion, had left me deeply traumatized. That birth ended abruptly with an emergency C-Section at a different hospital, during which I felt abandoned and unsupported. It was a harrowing ordeal where, at a crucial moment, I found myself alone, and my husband had stepped out briefly on the assurance that we had time- only for the situation to escalate unexpectedly in his absence.

Determined to seek a more supportive experience for my second pregnancy, I chose Methodist Hospital, hopeful for a new chapter. From the outset, Nasro distinguished herself not just a nurse, but as a guardian of my hopes for a vaginal birth. On the delivery day, she explained all my options clearly and helped me navigate the overwhelming tides of childbirth with knowledge and empathy. I started pushing while fasting for more than twenty hours, and I had a sleepless night. I was physically and emotionally tired. It was then that Nasro’s role shifted from caregiver to champion.

As I faced the exhausting task of pushing, her voice cut through my fatigue, empowering me with affirmation of my strength. “You can do it, mama; you are very strong; don’t give up yet.” She encouraged me. Even as I neared my limit after three grueling hours and the possibility of a c-section loomed large once again, it was Nasro’s unwavering support that fortified me. She rallied me with words that ignited a fierce determination: “Your baby’s strong because her mom is strong, so don’t give up on her and keep pushing.” When the doctor proposed using a vacuum to assist the delivery and explained the risks and the urgency, my heart sank with fear. But it was Nasro’s confidence in me that restored my resolve. With her guidance and a final, herculean effort, my baby was born.

The relief and joy that washed over me in that moment were indescribable. Nasro was there, her cheers mingling with my tears of relief and reminding me of the strength that I had mustered. Holding my baby against my chest, I was not only thankful for a successful delivery but profoundly grateful for having Nasro by my side. Her skill, compassion, and unwavering support not only guided me through a difficult delivery but also healed a post-trauma, replacing it with a memory of triumph and tenderness.

Thank you, Nasro, for not just doing your job, but for doing it with a heart full of compassion and resilience. You do not merely deliver babies, you deliver strength, courage, and life-changing support to mothers at their most critical moments. Keep being awesome!
