You were compassionate and empathetic mixed with a spoonful of hero.
A little background on our family's story as to how we arrived at Carroll Hospital. Our dad recently had health issues with many visits to other hospitals closer to home. He suffered a stroke and went to rehab only to have more health issues and concerns. He was admitted to Carroll Hospital and immediately got the best care he had received in over three weeks. The staff was attentive and caring. Nancy Bloom's caring and compassion, not only for my dad but for our family, was with no question the description of a Nurse! Not only did she address my father, but did so with the family as well. We are a family of 11 so it is a lot to deal with and Nancy handled herself with professionalism and in a caring way with a touch of humor. My dad really liked Nancy as he was not able to really speak much, but he knew who his Nurse was. You see, our dad is quite a character and quite a jokester and he egged Nancy on and she played the game to perfection. As a matter of fact, we thought she could be an honorary member of our family!

Carroll Hospital in every way was, in our opinion, a very comfortable and safe place for our 91-year-old father of 9! Every person on staff from doctors to the cafeteria folks were so friendly and made all daily visits easier during a difficult time. Dad eventually passed at home, in peace, surrounded by family, friends and God. The staff listened to our wishes about bringing him home to spend his days in his favorite place. Thank you for hearing and honoring those sentiments. In our conversations as days are stirring up memories... Nancy still is the kindest person to get us to this point. The hugs we shared with her when we left the hospital were heartfelt and will be remembered by our family for ever. Thank you, Nancy!

Thank you, Nancy, for the heartfelt care you gave to our Dad during the final days of his life. You were compassionate and empathetic mixed with a spoonful of hero. Our dad got you, and you got him! He was a prankster. When we were not able to be with him, we were at ease because we knew you were there with him. You became one of our family during those short days and we are so appreciative of your kindness and care that he received from you. You are a wonderful person and Nurse!
