She kept reassuring me that I was not alone and that she was going to help us through this. She did not leave my son's side all night.
My son was admitted to the PICU at Children's with sepsis and an unknown area of infection. His pressure and levels were bottoming out, and he needed to be put on an epi-drip. I was at the hospital alone since we live a far distance and we have other children. The doctor talked with me about putting my son on a ventilator if we could not keep his levels up. He said the next few hours would be critical. I was scared and it was hard to go through this alone. I wondered how I could push my son to fight. When I was able to see my son, Sara was his nurse. She kept reassuring me that I was not alone and that she was going to help us through this. I believe that she helped keep my son off of the ventilator and kept him alive through the night. She had ideas beyond medicine that helped keep him comfortable. I know we would be in a worse place without her. She did not leave my son's side all night. Thank you, Sara!
