Deanna was so compassionate, and the information she gave me really eased my mind.
My wife was in the hospital on comfort care, and I knew that she was going to pass away. I live in Sequim, and I wasn't able to come be with my wife in person. I really had no idea what to do and I reached out to the unit, and I was given Deanna's phone number. She is a nurse case manager, and she happened to be the person filling in on the unit that day. I left Deanna a message explaining my situation, and she called me back right away. She asked if I wanted to say anything to my wife, and she took her phone into my wife's room and held it up to her ear so that I could say goodbye. I heard my wife moan, perhaps in response to my voice. Deanna explained that hearing is one of the last senses to go at the end of life and that my wife would be able to hear me. Deanna told me that it looked like M, my wife, could be made more comfortable, and she worked with the nurse to adjust her medications.
I really had no idea what to do with M's body after she died, and I needed some help with that. Deanna explained over the phone what would happen after M died, and she also sent me a document that gave me phone numbers to obtain the death certificates and that type of thing. She let me know that I would need to choose a funeral home and sent me information for funeral homes near me, as well as affordable cremation services. Deanna was so compassionate, and the information she gave me really eased my mind. My wife passed away that day. I'm so thankful that Deanna was the nurse case manager assigned to M that day. If she hadn't called me back right away, I wouldn't have had the chance to say my goodbyes to M and to tell her that I loved her. I'm so thankful for the care, the knowledge, the compassion, and the diligence that Deanna provided that day. I can't thank her enough.
