Back in nursing school, my alma mater, Xavier University, had this motto: 'Be men and women for others.' This motto means to become people of learning and reflection, integrity and achievement, in solidarity with others. That's exactly what Gabby exudes. 

I am an RN new to a hospital setting, coming from working at an outpatient facility for many years, and naturally, there are many things I needed to learn and grasp in this new environment, but Gabby never made me feel incompetent. Instead, she encouraged me every single day to learn more and be better. She never ridiculed me and always extended a helping hand. 

During a difficult situation, Gabby stepped in and made that challenging situation smooth. Gabby is so skilled at what she does that everyone asks for her help because of her expertise, and she never complains! She always makes jokes to lighten up the mood. She is a leader through and through. I have seen how she took care of patients and made them comfortable in an otherwise uncomfortable environment, treating them like a family member, and I truly believe that when you treat your patients as such, you're providing optimum care. I wanted to thank Gabby for everything she has done for me, for the patients, and the team. May you forever be an angel in a sick room!
