She cracked jokes to keep my mind off the stitches I was getting. She was amazing in every way possible.
I came to the ER needing some stitches for a gash I received on my eye. I’m from San Angelo and my wife wasn’t here to advocate for me but I had a great nurse take care of me. She advocated for me! Emily wasn’t even my nurse and still cared for me. The ER was busy, and my gash was bleeding and dripping into my eye, so my family member got the attention of a nurse to help. That nurse was Emily, who came in immediately and stopped the blood from running into my eye, which, by the way, was burning the crap out of my eye. She cleaned the rest of my wound up, which had a lot of dry blood crusted everywhere. She was so gentle, funny, kind, and really compassionate. She was so gentle when cleaning my wound and spent so much time making sure she didn’t hurt me or my ego, which was already severely injured, lol. That tends to happen when you refuse to ask for help and think you got it, then drop a safe on your face, which is how I ended up in the ER. She held my hand when it was time to get stitches and said, "You squeeze as hard as you need to; I’ll be fine. Just squeeze all you need." She cracked jokes to keep my mind off the stitches I was getting. She was amazing in every way possible. She didn’t care that she was busy she took the time out to make me feel cared for! She even came and held my hand later when I started whining about how comforting her hand-holding was. She made me feel like I was the only patient in that ER, even though she was busy. Best care ever! It started out rough but ended with the best care, thanks to her.
