She goes above and beyond for my son. Honestly, I owe my son's life to her.
My son was born at 23 weeks and 5 days from PROM. My husband and I feared the unknown and what would happen the second he came. I went into labor while everyone was preparing the room. My son arrived and was taken away. It took 12 minutes to resuscitate my son. In that 12 minutes between all the yelling, I heard one person above the rest, and that was Kayla. When everyone was ready to call the time of death, she kept going. She was yelling that she could hear a heartbeat. If it wasn't for her, I don't think my son would be here. He's now 37, corrected, and 3 months old. She took my son as a primary and knew the moment my son was sick with pneumonia shortly after being born, then a month later, catching the moment he got a blood infection and meningitis by knowing he was sick and asked for the blood work to be done.
To this day, she helps my husband and I understand anything and everything, especially with the thousands of questions we have. She goes above and beyond for my son. Honestly, I owe my son's life to her. Some people are only there for the job, but she's there for the child. Kayla even checks in with the other nurses who have him to see how he's doing. She checks on my husband and me, making sure we're okay mentally. She stays late and takes shifts, and I am so thankful for her. So please take a moment to appreciate our wonderful nurse. Words cannot express how grateful we are for her.
