Our 20-year-old son was severely injured in a car accident. It has been 28 days since the accident, and he was beginning to experience ICU delirium. His room does not have a window, so he doesn’t know when it is day or night. Andrew, with the assistance of A, got him out of bed and into a chair for the first time. He sat up for hours, looking and waving at nurses and staff who commented on how good he looked. They remembered our son, swollen, with purple eyes swollen shut from the trauma to his face and neck. They were excited to see his progress, just as we are. Two nights ago, Andrew and K got him out of bed and into a wheelchair. They toured and took him outside briefly so he could experience the fresh air again. Andrew is so awesome, he is a gentle giant always talking our son through whatever he is doing. My son fist-bumps him and another nurse when they enter his room. We are so grateful to Andrew and the entire Trauma Team for the care they provide for our son and so many others.
