We even got to see her in action with one of her long-time patients. She was so close with that patient and their family, was the best listener, and was so compassionate with their difficult situation. I could tell that they looked up to her so much.
Dr. Katie Hall has made such an impact not only on me but also on many other students and patients.  Every clinical we had on 2C, she would go above and beyond to help us find opportunities to gain practice on skills (I got my first successful venipuncture with her!), which every nurse knows is an invaluable experience. She would also challenge us every clinical to think deeply about our patients' cases and think about what we could do as nurses to give them the best possible care. If we made a mistake in clinical, she would calmly talk through it with us and help us figure out what we could do better in the future. We even got to see her in action with one of her long-time patients. She was so close with that patient and their family, was the best listener, and was so compassionate with their difficult situation. I could tell that they looked up to her so much. I only hope I can get that close with a patient and their family one day. I aspire to be a nursing professor and clinical instructor one day and I only hope I can be as wonderful as she is.

Dr. Katherine Hall was my first clinical instructor in nursing school. She encouraged her students and always pushed us to do our best. When she taught certain skills at clinical, she performed them with such confidence and expertise. She was patient with her students and thoroughly explained any skills or disease processes that we did not understand. Dr. Hall was very caring toward all of the students, and she would check in with each of us throughout the day to make sure we did not feel overwhelmed. She encouraged us to do everything to the best of our ability because she wanted us to be great nurses in the future. Overall, she is an excellent teacher who genuinely cares about her students.

Dr. Hall was the very first instructor that I met with upon entry into the Traditional BSN program at UMMC. She was my assigned instructor for Health Assessment and also assigned as my advisor. To this day, Dr. Hall has continually displayed an enthusiastic attitude for teaching, fostered an environment that facilitated optimal learning, and encouraged students to reach their highest potential. She is knowledgeable and uses her knowledge to instill confidence in each of her students, including me. I would not have the assessment skills I have now if it weren’t for her dedication to excellence in nursing practice. I thank Dr. Hall for her passion, caring spirit, and patience with me throughout my time at UMMC.
