Teresa got on her knees and worked my vein. She was gentle to the touch and found the vein. Not only that, she sat on the ER floor while working my vein to continue to get the blood needed!!!!
Teresa met us and was very direct however very friendly. When the doctor ordered blood work, she got everything needed to start (being that the blood work was not ordered from the get-go, and the front nurses didn't need to insert a needle). I informed her I was a hard stick and wished her luck. Let me tell you! Teresa got on her knees and worked my vein. She was gentle to the touch and found the vein. Not only that, she sat on the ER floor while working my vein to continue to get the blood needed!!!! She messaged the vein for what seemed like forever because my blood just stopped flowing; she never gave up and made it a good clean line for the CT techs to be able to do their jobs. She didn't give up hope and sat there so patiently and determined. I couldn't believe she was willing to sit on the ER floor to get the blood. No other nurse would have been that patient and willing to do it. I barely have a bruise at the site which I always bruise. That was the start of my experience with her.

From there, she maintained a very positive attitude throughout the entire night! We were in the ER for over 10 hours, and she was so upbeat and willing to keep the atmosphere very pleasant for all those she was around. She joked, sang, and kept saying anything you need, I am here for you. When it came time for antibiotics to be given, she was so quick when I started to get sick. She got me a bucket in NO time flat. I got alcohol wipes for me to breathe through my nose (who knew that would stop me from throwing up the medicine, besides Teresa), then got me crackers and a small amount of water to help. Teresa was an angel that night who not only made the experience so much more bearable that it was almost pleasant to be there!

Thank you, Teresa, for not only helping out that night but for being a LIGHT unto others. Please keep up your spirit of light even when things appear dark. Your light shines!
