Jaclyn Barton is one of the best nurses at this facility. She always shows up with a smile on her face and treats her patients and other staff with the utmost respect. She's intelligent, compassionate, and selfless. I know whenever I float down to 2C, I can count on Jackie for assistance. Last night, another nurse on 2C had a female patient on the telesitter monitor who was suffering from a severe mental illness. The patient continued to strip her clothes off and scratch and touch herself inappropriately. I had to constantly call the desk because the patient's nurse didn't have a Vocera on. Jackie was the charge nurse and always answered my calls regarding this patient. Even though this patient wasn't Jackie's, she didn't want the patient to be exposed, so she constantly rushed into the patient's room to redress her/protect her modesty. After this continued to happen, Jackie took it upon herself to completely give the patient a bed bath. She felt the patient would be more comfortable if she was cleaned properly. I've never seen another nurse do something like that before, and she deserves to be recognized. She takes her time and never makes the patients feel like they are unheard. I've always respected and appreciated Jackie, but I never took the time to write one of these out for her. Watching her take charge and advocate for another nurse's patient really made me want to do this!
