When Stephanie Bonfilio is given patients who have been on the unit for weeks and months, she's a nurse who goes above and beyond for them. I know this because I'm watching the patients on the telesitter monitor, so I see what goes on constantly. Stephanie thoroughly assesses these patients the way it should be done. She gives the best care, and you can tell she's passionate about her job. She has no problem taking the time to make the veterans feel good about themselves. She is one of the only nurses who bathes her patients and helps them with oral care every single shift. No other nurse does that every shift. She changes their sheets and clothing so they feel fresh and new. She also gets them up to ambulate, which is huge. Some of these patients who have been on the unit for months rarely get out of bed, and they lose their strength and start to atrophy. Stephanie never lets that stop her. She wants them to feel independent and gain their strength back. I appreciate her nursing care so much. She is one of the best nurses in this hospital, and she tries very hard.
