She was very responsive to his needs. The nurses on the unit were very busy, but Jessica made Dad feel like her only patient.
Our father/husband had surgery at Lakeside. During COVID, all surgery cases were being evaluated for severity. He had a grapefruit-sized colon abscess that they were afraid would perforate. He was to have this surgery through a scope and be in the hospital for 3-5 days. He ended up with 4 feet of his colon removed and a large open incision. He spent 14 days in the hospital and died a couple of weeks later.

Jessica was his night bedside nurse for the first two nights in the hospital. She was very responsive to his needs. The nurses on the unit were very busy, but Jessica made Dad feel like her only patient. I am an RN, and I have three sisters who are not medical. She answered their questions as if there wasn’t a stupid question. The 3rd night my dad was in the hospital, Jessica was the charge nurse on the unit. Each time she came to work, she checked on him. She even joked with him. We really wanted to get him better so he could go home. This didn’t happen- God had bigger plans for him.

Thank you, Jessica, for your compassion and love for all of your patients and families.
