I can never repay the kindness and empathy that I was met with when you took care of me that day in the ED. I was in so much pain and distress. She really kept me calm and made me feel at ease.
Yanet Thompson truly deserves it. I woke up with terrible abdominal pain. My mother called fire rescue to take me to the nearest emergency room, which was not a Mount Sinai facility. Three different nurses tried to get IV access on me with no success. The experience there was so terrible. I left and had someone take me to Mount Sinai Hialeah FSED. Yanet and the registration staff admitted me quickly. Yanet placed me into a bed and placed an IV and drew labs and got me to the CT scan ASAP. I have a DVT in my left arm, which means I cannot use it for blood draws, blood pressure, etc. I can only use my right arm for IV. My arm was already very bruised & I am terrified of needles. Yanet took her time to really examine my arm and find the best vein possible so that she would be successful on her first attempt. She was able to get an IV but it would not give blood. I was so dehydrated. It was nearly impossible, but she was able to get blood from the butterfly, needle and pediatric tubes. She is truly an angel. The experience had me so frightened, but she was there for me in every sense. She stayed by my side the entire time she made sure my pain was addressed, and then I was comfortable, and the orders were being fulfilled so as soon as possible. She walked me to the restroom and made jokes to keep my spirits up. She personally spoke with the radiology tech to make sure that they understood that my veins were so fragile and would need to decrease the speed of the IV contrast injection in order to avoid blowing my vein. I can never repay the kindness and empathy that I was met with when you took care of me that day in the ED. I was in so much pain and distress. She really kept me calm and made me feel at ease. She 1000% went the extra mile for me to make sure I would be OK. She truly encompasses what it means to be extraordinary, compassionate, and a masterful nurse.
