My husband recently was put on oxygen. It has been a struggle for him and others to find a nasal cannula that fit inside his nose. It is almost impossible to write on a sheet of paper how hard the struggle has been to keep the cannula in his nose. He also recently began treatment for a feeding tube through his nose, which has been pulled out three times in his sleep even with a bridle. After an extremely stressful night with no sleep for him we asked again for a solution. Others were offering drugs such as olanzapine for the solution when we brought up the cannula issues. I was extremely frustrated and spoke to Hillary who instantly listened showing her compassion, instilling, confidence in the situation with a possible solution of another type of cannula. Our anxiety was instantly reduced. Within a half hour the issue was addressed. She thought about it and reached out to an individual she thought was best for his issue. Hillary was dedicated to helping my husband with a smile. We are thankful for the VA to have nurses especially like Hillary.
