It was Brittany's confidence that allowed us to make the decision to bring Mom home and have hospice help us along the next journey.
Brittany read the room and completely had a plan. Mom has had Alzheimer’s for 17 years, and we, as a family, have been stressed to the breaking point. Mom had a terrible fall at the Memory care center where she had been a resident for the past two years. Her decline had been noticed by all, and they were aware something could and would happen soon to escalate the situation further.
Mom was admitted to the hospital with head wounds and a significant loss of blood from her injuries. Her nurse could see we were worried about Mom, and she came into the room with a plan. She engaged Mom completely, recognized and validated her as a whole person, and put us all at ease. She is a credit to the career and is caring and compassionate beyond. Mom is a former RN herself, and she was treated with the dignity she deserves. Our story isn’t over yet, and through discussions with this nurse and the doctor, it was her confidence that allowed us to make the decision to bring Mom home and have hospice help us along the next journey. God bless nurses like her. We were allowed to stay all nine days with Mom in her room, and the hospital was amazing.
