Laz went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, safe, and truly cared for.
I would like to take a moment to recognize one of your outstanding nurses. I don’t know where to even begin. Laz is hands down the most caring & compassionate nurse I have ever had. When I met Laz, I was coming out of my third serious surgery in just two weeks. One for a bowel perforation which caused severe infection which led to septic shock. Next was a laparoscopic for a colostomy. That surgery caused a severe infection and needed to be redone manually. All of this after dealing with GI issues which were disabling for two years. Needless to say, I was in a lot of pain and extremely mentally discouraged.
The recovery was very difficult and included an NG tube, drains, a long vertical abdominal incision, a deep wound incision on my rear, and a colostomy bag. Laz went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, safe, and truly cared for. His words and actions lifted me up to be positive about my recovery. Especially when I needed an endoscopy. I had a complete breakdown, and Laz was able to calm me down and reassure me it was going to be ok. I asked if he could be my nurse the next day when the procedure was to take place, and he promised me he would. When he found out he was scheduled to float, he fought tooth and nail to keep his word and be there for me.
He truly goes above and beyond just doing his job. He has a passion for what he does, and you can tell he truly cares about his patients. I don’t know what I would have done without his tough love and encouragement, his relentless attention, and, most importantly, his follow-through. I just felt like he understood me, really cared, and that I was safe whenever he was my nurse.
Note: This is Laz's 2nd DAISY Award!
