I would like to nominate a registered nurse who had to take care of my mother during the almost 2 weeks stay in the ICU at Alexian Brothers Medical Center after a major stroke. Maya always asked if my family and I had any questions and always informed us of my mother's status during her shift. All questions were answered with a smile by her as if she was a member of our family. Absolutely fantastic! Maya was the one nurse who was very memorable. Even when my father made the difficult decision to unhook the breathing tube from my mother, Maya was there to comfort me through the process and then through the transfer of her to a hospice facility across the street. The next day, while I was sitting in my mother‘s room at the hospice facility, Maya stopped by with a small bouquet of flowers before her night shift began, presenting it to my family for my mother. Wow! Thank you so much, Maya. This floored us and uplifted the room. It takes a special nurse to take the time to do this! Alexian Brothers could spend a great deal of time and money advertising your fine products, perhaps with excellent results, but I assure you that a nurse of this caliber, who on a daily basis makes personal contact with your patience, brings similar and lasting results at a comparatively negligible cost. Maya is a true DAISY Nurse.
