Stephanie Temple stepped up and led both units during this extremely difficult time.  She worked to bring a higher level of comradery and appreciation between the departments.
At the start of the pandemic, she served as the Director of our largest inpatient unit.  That unit quickly became the “COVID” unit, undergoing multiple changes at warp speed.  Staff was scared, uncertain, uncomfortable, and stressed, but their leader immediately reassured, comforted, and encouraged them.  As if the stress of this wasn’t enough we were also in the process of changing our structure and she became the Director of both PCU and ICU 2 months into the pandemic.  Stephanie Temple stepped up and led both units during this extremely difficult time.  She worked to bring a higher level of comradery and appreciation between the departments.

Patient Experience scores in our ICU have been some of the lowest in the organization in recent years. However, in 2021, under Stephanie’s leadership, the ICU had phenomenal improvement in all domains. This is remarkable as this was the height of the pandemic, and most organizations were experiencing declining scores. Stephanie’s straightforward yet professional approach fosters improved accountability among her team. She is approachable and encourages growth among her team.

It is my pleasure to nominate Stephanie Temple for a DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
