I would like to nominate Amanda Brookbank for her compassion and caring for me and others for close to a year in both stages of rehab. A very important factor for me was helping me obtain timely appointments with several of the doctors that I was in the care of. While I could get an appointment in six weeks or two months, she was so kind as to reduce that time to one or two weeks. This was so important to me and an eighty-five-year-old patient who was nervous and frightened about having Congestive Heart Failure for the first time. Often, during rehab, we would review my med list. I was dealing with low blood pressure and often could not exercise with an 80/40 or a similar reading. She was instrumental in reducing the BP meds to 1 ⁄ 2 of one, which greatly improved my blood pressure. Also, on days I could not exercise, she assisted me in getting to my car. I was scheduled for a heart cath at Saint Vincent’s in Indianapolis. I needed a driver as I was unable to drive, and she offered to spend her day off taking me and spent the entire day assuring me that all was good. It was from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm. In addition to being professional, kind, informative, compassionate, and caring on a daily basis, I consider her a friend.
