Nurse Briana Merritt was the overnight nurse for my wife as she went through labor to deliver our firstborn son. My wife labored through the night, suffering increasing discomfort and pain. Nurse Bri was so attentive to her needs that my wife literally said the word "nausea," and Nurse Bri burst into the room with a barf bag and an order for anti-nausea drugs! My wife was terrified of the idea of an epidural needle. However, around midnight, the pain of labor overcame her, and she decided to undergo the procedure. Nurse Bri helped her through the entire operation, holding her hands and looking her in the eyes, and my wife tells me these steps significantly aided her in feeling comfortable. When it came time to push, my wife lacked the strength (or capacity due to numbness) to elevate her back in order to properly push as the OB doctor instructed. Nurse Bri helped me lift my wife up during these pushes, joining our team in the most direct way and helping bring our son healthy and happy into this world.
