My 12 year old son was severely ill with sepsis shock when admitted to TCH. The day we met Nurse Wyoni was our first morning waking up on the PHMU floor after recently being discharged from the ICU. (We had been through a lot already from our stay at TCH. Moved to different floors in the ICU and now the road to recovery from his severe illness, prolonged our stay in the hospital.) Nurse Wyoni introduced herself to us with her big warm smile, it made me feel comfort in knowing that I had a good Nurse for the day.

My son needed a lot of close medical monitoring and wound dressing changes around the clock. It was a lot of work. Wyoni took the time to listen to me and learn about my son's care routines. She will talk to my son to get to know him and bonded over football and sports. Every day, we have her as our day shift nurse, and she has been a blessing to us. She made my son feel comfortable even in situations where he was in pain, like, for example, the wound vac change. She would distract him by talking to him about football throughout the change or when his rectal tube was leaky and he was in pain; she always found solutions to avoid the discomfort of wound cleaning around that area.

These are just a few examples of everything we went through together. She made me feel like we were a team, taking care of our son in our most difficult times as a family. My husband, my son, and I are grateful to have met such an awesome, wonderful, compassionate Nurse like Wyoni. She has left an impression on us, so much so my son asks to go visit her whenever we have our follow-ups at TCH, and we will continue to visit her just to say Hi and because we know she loves seeing all the progress he's done since our stay. Nurse Wyoni is a bright light in this world, and I hope she knows that! It brings me comfort knowing that there are marvelous people in the world like Nurse Wyoni, with her big bright smile and her colorful character scrubs which always brought joy to see her rock. she has done such a service to all her patients, what a blessing it is to have her working for you. Her skills and devotion did not go unnoticed. She will always have a place in our hearts.
