Her perseverance in communicating the patient’s symptoms and advocating for the code stroke to be called is what our job is all about.
We have often heard “God places people in the right place at the right time”. RMC is extremely fortunate that God placed Jordyn Husby on 2 west on the days she was there.

In the last 3 months, there have been four patients on 2 West Post Procedural Cardiac Unit that have exhibited stroke-like symptoms.  In any invasive procedure, we know TIME IS BRAIN! There is always the potential for numerous complications. One of which is the formation of clots due to the invasiveness of cardiac procedures.

“God did place Jordyn in the right place at the right time” as in each of these patient incidents, Jordyn was there.  Given her highly skilled intuition, Jordyn acted quickly to ensure the patients were cared for in an instant, which contributes to a stroke patient's best outcome.

As Patrick Barnes' family notes “his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided not only to Pat, but to everyone in his family.” This is exactly what Jordyn does at all times.  She engages the family, keeps them posted as to the patient's condition, and explains the what and the why.  All of these things ease the family’s apprehension for the emergent situation that is occurring right before their eyes.

As the DAISY goals state, “The goal is to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people by the superhuman work they do every day.”  In her daily nurse practice, Jordyn is an excellent and Extraordinary Nurse.  She truly depicts DAISY's qualifications as she consistently meets the standards of extraordinary compassion along with skillful care each day in her practice as an RN.

We remain extremely fortunate to have Jordyn on our team.  We are forever grateful for her critical thinking skills and quick call to action for any and all of her patients' needs. Her perseverance in communicating the patient’s symptoms and advocating for the code stroke to be called is what our job is all about. “TIME IS BRAIN” is always on her mind.  We thank you for your continued nursing excellence Jordyn- Yes, God places you in the right place at the right time.
