Kelly selflessly stopped to assist the caregiver in their moment of distress and transferred the patient to the Pediatric Emergency Department for continued support.
Kelly was returning from her lunch break at the Pediatric Emergency Room elevators on the main level at the Bloomberg Building. As she was approaching the elevators, she saw and heard someone run past me. The lady was holding a toddler, maybe 2-4 years of age, and the child was visibly in distress and limp. The lady was stopped at the metal detectors by security staff and was asked to have her belongings checked. Since the child was in distress, Kelly grabbed the child from the woman's arms, ran into the pediatric emergency room, and explained the child was in distress. A registered nurse grabbed the child and immediately took her to the back. Kelly selflessly stopped to assist the caregiver in their moment of distress and transferred the patient to the Pediatric Emergency Department for continued support. Actions like Kelly’s mean so much to the team caring for the patient and to the parent in distress. She truly embodied the core values of JHH.
