I had the honor to work with Dawn three days in a row this weekend. Our patients and providers are privileged to work with such a kind, compassionate, smart, and experienced nurse.

Dawn was triaging a patient of mine with decreased FM at 33 weeks who ended up having a fetal demise. She was also acting as the charge nurse, training others. Dawn kept this patient out of compassion after she held, cried, and supported this patient. She came out from the room to manage the deck like a boss while training two employees. This patient was hysterical, not only did Dawn calm her down she used appropriate clinical judgment about what the patient needed and next steps while she was waiting for me to confirm the demise after the OB hospitalist US. 

Dawn regularly goes above and beyond; that is just her "average." She did three times as much work by keeping this patient and training two employees. My patient was thankful for her care and compassion. Leaders and nurses like her are the reason why we stand apart from other units. 

Additionally, Saturday, I had a patient with a fetal bradycardia that resolved in the OR. We decided to continue 2nd stage in the OR. Dawn as the charge not only helped move the patient, she stayed in the OR and charted the FHT and did all the admin work for this patient so the patient's nurse could stay at the bedside. This patient also got exceptional care (and did go on to have a vaginal delivery! Yay!). I am thankful for the almost 15 years I have been working with Dawn and am looking forward to many more!
