She had NO idea she had just given me the most precious gift of a clean air space, freedom from shame, and peace of mind.
I noticed Misyl’s kindness right away, but what put her above her colleagues was her constant ability to anticipate my needs as a patient, even when I didn’t voice them. I could tell she was treating me the way she or someone she loves would want to be treated if they were in my position - she wasn’t just doing the minimum to get her hours in. Around 3-4 am, after my business, she took an anti-odor spray and sprayed it throughout my room; then smiled and asked if there was anything else she could do for me. She had NO idea she had just given me the most precious gift of a clean air space, freedom from shame, and peace of mind. When she left my room, I sat there in shock until I finally cried from the deep thankfulness I felt. This was what it was like to be truly seen and understood by someone willing to do something so small yet powerful. Thank you, Misyl, for being my favorite ICU nurse! I know you are making a difference in the lives of countless people every single day. God bless you.
