Day in and day out, Sam truly exemplifies what it means to be a leader and a DAISY Nurse. She goes above and beyond for her staff as well as the patients and their families each and every day. Sam is always checking in on her staff to see how she can be of assistance. Whether it’s to help with something as simple as a turn or as difficult as a code, we can always count on Sam to be right by our side. With the acuity being uncharacteristically high lately and our staffing low, Sam has come in during her vacations and her days off to help in any way she can. On those rare days when Sam isn’t working, she makes a point to check in on the charge nurse and staff to make sure we are all okay. She does everything she can to boost morale and is always advocating for her nurses as well as the patients and their families. She is the backbone of our unit, consistently putting the patients, families, and her nurses' needs above her own. We are lucky to call Sam our assistant nurse manager and are proud to be her staff.
