From day one of working together until the present, it has been a pleasure working with Jooyeon. Every day, she strives to provide the highest level of nursing care possible for all our cancer patients.
I have worked with Jooyeon on the Oncology ward for multiple years. During this time, I functioned as her educator, preceptor, mentor, and coworker on the Oncology floor at the LA General Medical Center. She has been dedicated to working the night shift for the last several years and has been precepting all the new RNs with their nursing skills while focusing on the safe administration of Chemotherapy. From day one of working together until the present, it has been a pleasure working with Jooyeon. Every day, she strives to provide the highest level of nursing care possible for all our cancer patients. She is a very hard worker. Very focused, with excellent knowledge regarding policy, procedure, and evidence-based practices. She is always first in line to help any of the staff members with any of their workload. Her performance as a preceptor is EXCELLENT. She is a great teacher with excellent critical thinking skills. Always kind, patient, and caring to all the new RNs. She is a great asset when precepting! She has great communication skills and is always working with the entire healthcare team, helping them resolve patient care needs. She is quite efficient and very skilled in any emergency. She is a team player and develops great relationships with all levels of the healthcare team. Her assessment skills are excellent!!  She is very organized and able to handle a large patient workload with no problem using excellent time management skills and problem-solving skills. Jooyeon is a great asset to our Oncology ward, nursing staff, and cancer patients. An excellent candidate for the RN 2 position.

I believe what a person does when no one is looking is an accurate representation of their character rather than what they do when a crowd or person of authority is around. A lot of people can put on a good show when others are around but disappear into the shadows when there is nothing to gain from their actions. Jooyeon is someone who always does the right thing, simply for the sake of doing the right thing. Her excellent work ethic and commitment to the unit, staff, and patient really set a perfect example of what a nurse should be. She continues to be a solid foundation for our unit, no matter the circumstance. She’s always ahead of the game, anticipating both patient and staffing needs. With more new nurses coming in, she helps set an example of teamwork that inspires others to follow in her footsteps. She is a guru around the nursing station. On multiple occasions while I have been charge, new admissions have come in while we were extremely busy. Often at night, we have no clerk, and even if she has a full patient load, I look over my shoulder and see her printing labels, calling the MD and bed control, and filling out the admission logbook. She also stepped up to help all the new hire RNs with their chemotherapy certifications and is in constant communication with our leader, updating her on who needs more practice. Her patience, demeanor, and thoroughness while teaching are unparalleled. She is quick as a bunny to help change patients and answer call lights, and I have never heard her say, “That’s not my patient.” She is hands down one of the most effective charge nurses I have had the pressure of working with. There is not enough space or time to truly express how invaluable she is. None of this even covers how much the patients love her as a nurse. Always going above and beyond for all the patients on the unit. The patients may not be writing thank you notes often, but the gratitude I see in their eyes when Jooyeon helps them speaks volumes.
