Eileen, services rendered above and beyond the call of duty. She deserves the highest praise I can offer. At approximately 2:00am, I experienced an extremely painful episode on my right . Earlier that day, I had undergone surgery to my right knee. I was given a bandage designed to limit moving or bending. I was in excruciating pain as you can imagine. Eileen had already given me morphine through my IV but I had this recurring pain on the underside of my knee that was unbearable. I tried to explain it to the staff in the ER but they jumped to conclusions that it was surgery causing the discomfort. Once I was moved from the ER to my room, the pain was getting worse. The morphine and other pain meds had little to no effect. After paging Eileen, she initially gave the same response the ER did and that I was 3 hours away before she could give me morphine to ease the pain. I responded that she was understanding what I was saying then at that moment the light went on inside her eyes. She started probing and asking questions, feeling my leg and the bandage. She went so far as to raise her calf and ask me to point to her where the pain was. She accurately discovered that there was a raised area on the bandage that was digging into my flesh and each time I moved the pain was unbearable and she released the tension and repositioned the bandage - Brilliant! I was so relieved. She used her deductive reasoning skills effectively.
