Christina is one of our ER nurses who has found her niche in our psych ER. This is a very challenging area, but she is very good at making connections with patients, staying calm and focused, and making it a safe environment for this vulnerable population. Recently, Christina was able to make a connection with a patient that saved his life. He was a peds psych patient who had come in depressed and withdrawn. Christina could sense that there was something deeper going on, so she worked really hard to build a rapport with him. He eventually got comfortable and opened up to her that he was being sexually abused. She was able to collaborate with the correct disciplines to get him the desperate help that he needed. Christina's kindness and determination brought this unimaginable horror to light, and now this boy has hope. This is just one of many examples of Christina’s intuition and character that makes her such an incredible nurse. We are very blessed to have her as a part of our family.
