I had cataract surgery and was fortunate enough to get Patti Crisler as my nurse. She called me back from the waiting room, along with my sister, and was immediately warm and welcoming. She took me to my room and began her duties of preparing me for my procedure. She explained everything to me as she went along. She asked me questions to make sure I had an understanding of what she was doing and what I was going to have done that day. She then started talking about Eskenazi Health and about Dr. Yung (my provider) and everything she said was easing my anxiety. She told me that she had had this done herself and that Dr. Yung had taken care of her as well. She assured me that I had the best of the best. I asked her how long she had worked at Eskenazi, I had not told her I was an employee. She told me her previous experience and then how she came here in the midst of the Pandemic and how it was the best decision she had ever made, career-wise. She talked about the comradery and that she just really enjoyed caring for her patients. That much was very obvious. My sister and I then told her we were both employees (my sister a retiree) and that we had always felt the same way. She was able to take me from being so nervous and anxious to being completely comfortable and relaxed just by her actions and her calm and even demeanor. She certainly displayed the core values of Eskenazi Health and I'm so thankful I was fortunate enough to have her care for me and Eskenazi Health is fortunate to have her caring for all of the patients that she comes in contact with.
