I had 2 episodes of tachycardia with in 3 days that required being brought to the ED. Which later led to being admitted. Lindsay was my nurse from the time I was admitted until shift change. Because of an immediate opening in the Cath lab, I was taken there before my wife had arrived. When my wife arrived, she was confused not to find me in the room I had been assigned. A student nurse approached my wife and asked if she had a question. My wife asked her where I was, Lindsay came and asked my wife what my concern was. She told her she didn't know where I was. Lindsay stated I was in the Cath lab, to which my wife responded, 'No, he's not.' Lindsay told her she would come speak to her when she was finished in another room, then followed up by saying he was okay and there were no problems. When Lindsay was able to speak with my wife, she told her the chain of events that led up to the quickness of being sent to the Cath lab. She explained that I was on my way back, that everything went well, and that she would be back to check on me when I arrived.

She had nursing students with her that day, she explained to the students what had happened to me. It was just like a shift report. The students asked questions, she showed them everything she was explaining, and exhibited exactly what a teaching hospital should be. I had to have pressure removed from the balloon on my artery in my wrist every 15 minutes. She showed them how it was done the first time, and each time after supervised the students doing the same thing. We were glad to have the students be part of it. She never once gave the impression of being put off by students being with her. She always spoke to them professionally and showed immense kindness and support in their learning. She is an amazing instructor. The best way to learn is to get your hands in it, and she made it happen for them. I was discharged the same day.

I had an appointment for an ablation, and after the procedure was done, I was admitted to the same unit. Lindsay was also working that day. She stopped by to see how everything went even though she was not my assigned nurse. I was happy to see her stop by. I am nominating Lindsay for the DAISY Award because her commitment to patient care and excellent teaching skills should not go unnoticed. Not only did she treat me with dignity and compassion at both stays, but she was also very attentive to my questions when I had them. She kept both my wife and me informed and embraced her students' presence at all times. We have not had an experience like that at any other healthcare facility. She is definitely top-notch and a true asset to your team.
