Anna Kathryn took care of me and my baby after I gave birth. I had a very unexpected complication after my delivery and having Anna Kathryn as my nurse was such a blessing. She was efficient in carrying out appropriate interventions quickly and appropriately. During a very scary situation for me, she remained calm and made me feel comfortable. As a nurse myself I was so scared to be in the hospital having a complication after giving birth. I am used to being in control and I had to give up control and trust my care team. I felt like it was the most vulnerable time in my life, yet Anna Kathryn was so compassionate to my family and me. I think Anna Kathryn knew how nervous I was, so she took the time to talk to me and my family for an extended period of time. Her confidence and critical thinking put all my worries at ease. She even came to see me and check on me when I went to the Mother Baby Unit. I left my hospital stay a changed person because of Anna Kathryn. Not only did she help bring my first-born baby into the world, but she also changed me as a nurse. I am a better nurse because of her. I know how important it is to advocate for my patients and be compassionate.
