Maggie went to the pharmacy and paid for the meds so the patient could be discharged home with the meds she needed to have.
I work with Maggie and have known her for several years. I feel a sense of calm when I see she is working my shift. I know that she is available to help and has the answers to my questions. When I struggled to learn how to do ultrasound IVs, she was always there to guide me. I needed more than the required time to be comfortable on my own. She never voiced impatience with my calling to ask for assistance. She always encouraged me. Now I am confident and proficient!
Recently we had a patient who was being discharged home. This was an extremely complicated discharge with many needs. Everything was all set except the patient did not have any money to pay for her meds. Per the patient, there was no one who could pick her meds up or pay for them. She had insurance so the meds could not be vouchered, it was 6pm so there was no more delivery available from Publix, and the pharmacy was closing at 7pm. This patient was tearful and frightened about her future. Maggie went to the pharmacy and paid for the meds so the patient could be discharged home with the meds she needed to have.
