Whitney is a night shift nurse on our mother/Baby unit. She cared for a new first-time 18-year-old mom who was homeless with no family to help her. Her baby came very early and is in our NICU. 

Her high school paid for a short stay at the Red Roof Inn in Hampton, and Whitney has been picking her up and driving her back and forth to the hospital to visit her daughter in the NICU. Whitney bought her groceries and other needed items. Whitney also brought her to the 4 Oaks Homeless Day Center so she could meet with their housing resource officer to help her get housing. 

When her time at Red Roof Inn ended, Whitney paid for a motel so the mom could be close to the hospital and have a safe place to stay.

Whitney has been doing so much more for this young mom, especially being a very positive, hopeful, and loving influence in this scared young lady’s life.

Whitney has truly demonstrated that she is a DAISY Nurse due to her sensitivity, compassion, love, sacrifice, protection, and devotion to tending to and ministering to this valuable, sweet new mom.
