Professor Nguyen continually checks in on students in the online course, encourages them, and provides them with resources outside of the course.
Professor Nguyen is from Orange County, CA, and obtained his BSN from California State University and MSN from the University of Alabama. He is certified as a family nurse practitioner (FNP), acute care NP (AGACNP), emergency NP (ENP), and cardiovascular NP (CVNP) through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) (FNP-C and ENP-C), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) (FNP-BC and AGACNP-BC) and American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine (ABCM) (CVNP-BC) as well as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNEcl) through the National League for Nursing (NLN). He is also a candidate for a Doctor of Nursing Practice program. His interests are in primary care, cardiovascular, emergency, and critical care. He enjoys teaching and giving back to help students work toward their goals. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, camping, and traveling.
Prof. Nguyen was nominated by several students. Here are two examples of student letters on his behalf.
Professor Scott Nguyen is worthy of this award, as he is dedicated, knowledgeable, and student-oriented. He checks in at the beginning of each week and specifically asks different students questions. He provides the answers at the end of the week and gives feedback on the discussion questions. He is also concerned about his students. He will check if one is not on track and find out the reason to help in any way he can to get them through the course successfully… He also gets other faculty involved to help the student if needed. I believe he is an extraordinary Tutor and person by any standard. This is especially great in today’s world as we need more positive people like Professor Nguyen.
With utmost enthusiasm, I nominate Professor Scott Nguyen for the DAISY Award. I have had the pleasure of taking two of his classes at United States University. Professor Nguyen continually checks in on students in the online course, encourages them, and provides them with resources outside of the course. For example, Professor Nguyen includes apps to assist future Family Nurse Practitioners in their duties. Moreover, I love the fact that he conducted Zoom meetings to connect and added a more personal touch to learning.
