Cindy had a talk with him, and from that day on, my boyfriend was determined to begin his start on PT/OT. And just like that, he took his first steps around a month after his surgery!
My boyfriend, age 18, was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, which left him having to relearn how to do basic day-to-day activities. Once he was transferred to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, Cynthia was assigned to be his NP. From the moment we met her to the last day we saw her, she was by his side, motivating him on a day-to-day basis. She was an absolute angel.

I remember this specific moment when my boyfriend was told that he would never be able to walk again. Cindy had a talk with him, and from that day on, my boyfriend was determined to begin his start on PT/OT. And just like that, he took his first steps around a month after his surgery! There’s tons of other moments where those little talks turned into a lifetime of motivation not only for the patient but for his family and I. She never failed to understand how we felt and acknowledge our feelings while also comforting us through hard times. She was always so patient in explaining to us the procedures that were being done. She always knew the right things to say to us. We will always have her in our hearts. It was truly a blessing to have her in our lives to guide us on how to better care for my boyfriend.

Thank you so much, Cindy! Your actions we’re never left unnoticed, I know he appreciated everything you did for him! We wish you a lifetime of success and happiness. I don’t know how I could ever repay you for everything you did for us! You are truly an inspiration to me, and also the reason why I will be pursuing a career in the medical field!
